Hi Guys,

I have recently posted a few threads on here about my fish and one of them being a poorly female guppy which died yesterday!!!

I have been treating the water with a med called: MELAFIX which i am adding once a day for 7 days then doing a water change of 30% like stated, is this making my water cloudy???

Also one of my neon tetras is missing... about 3 of them have had little bump underneath them not sure what is was but today they are fine and the bumps have gone!!! its really strange not sure wots going on...???

The water tests are fine:

Amonia - 0
PH - Around 6.8 - 7
Nitrite - 0

What should i do? anyone got any ideas? also found some tetra eggs in the tank small as anything, how long are they eggs b4 they hatch (wrong turm i no)

Thanks guys any help would be gr8ful...H_N_L_FISH

What are you feeding them? Tank size and stocking please. What was wrong with the guppy? Any other signs of disease?

Melafix has never worked for my fish, but I have heard of it working well for others.

30l tank...
Feeding them Sera, vipan recomended
2 guppys now and now 5 neons...

No other signs of disease... the lfs said she might have burned herself on heater so got a cover now... she was also pregnant!!! any ideas???
The other tetra that i cant find anywhere and mean anywhere think it might be in the gravel somewhere or filter???

Water cloudy cud this be the meds?

the lfs also told me to feed them daily but not alot at all which i have been doing, i think its to much to feed daily tho am i right?

Hi, how long has the tank been setup for?
The cloudy water could be overfeeding but in this instance is more likely down to new tank syndrome IMO given you sound like you are fairly new to the hobby ?? (forgive me if i am wrong)

Can i ask which test kit you are using? Also do you have a test for nitrate?

Neons are extremely sensitive when kept in relatively new setups (under 6months old) and really should only be kept in larger tanks of 15G or more where the water is more stable,
In a tank of 30L there isn't enough water to keep the stats at a stable level and any changes effect the fish much greater, meaning sensitive fish usually struggle even more than they would normally.

Melafix is simply a natural remedy for healing wounds or torn fins,

Feeding once per day is ok provided the tank is well established, however if it is newly cycled I would probably start with feeding once every other day, or even feeding 5 out of every 7 days
