Got two new mollys yesterday 1 male and 1 female

They seemed fine in my 50l tank with 6 cardinal tetras, 2 male guppies, 2 small Danios

my tank stats are:
Ammonia 0
NitrAte 10ppm
Nitrite 0
PH 8
Heated to 80 degrees C

My male molly has died (floating on the bottom rather than the top) and my female molly is going mad - round and round in circles very fast. (to be honest all the fish seem to be a bit overactive tonight)

anyone any ideas about why this might have happened please?

How did you acclimate the new fish to your tank?

Did you see any other dead fish in the tank you got them from? Did all the other fish at the store you bought them from in the tank look okay?

It's sort of hard to say since you did only have them a rather short time.

Did you add any of the LFS water to your current tank water?

I left them in the bag for 20 mins, then added a little of my tank water to the bag and left for another 20 mins then i let them go in the water.

everything looked good

yes I added the water in the bag - should I not have done?

Usually it is best not to add the LFS water to your tank. This just helps prevent any diseases that may be floating around in their water that you may not see. Try to net the fish out of the bag when you can.

Have you returned the dead fish if possible and got a refund for him? Not sure if your LFS has that kind of system or not. So do some do not.

I'd say try performing a small water change, my thought is more then likely that this was not your fault. Could have been to much stress for the fish depending when the LFS had their shipment of fish come in.
