i got mollie fry and , well i saw her have about 30 but, today i can only see 4 fry left, well i saw 5 but she ate 1!

i just need some help?!

1. how old, days is it till there big enough not to be eaten by the female mollie? ( onli 1 fish in tank as others are in different)
2. should i purchase a breeder net tomorow?!!?
3. do you think many wll survive considering only 4 left?
4. are fry easy to catch to put in breeder net?

1. Well, it depends on what you feed them, how often, etc. I couldn't really give you a number. A month maybe?
2. If you would feel safer with them in there. Though, you cannot keep the fry in there for over 2 weeks, as you start to risk stunting then.
3. Do you have a lot of plants and hiding places? If you have plants, what kind? Any floating or thick ones?
4. No. :p It takes me about an hour to get 20 Variatus fry in a fry tank.

And congratulations on the babies! :D

cheers, well in my tank at the moment, i have no plants!! i set my tank up a week ago and had water tested and was ok and brought 2 mollies, on the 2nd day, the mollie had fry, i moved the dad to another tank and left the mom, in my tank i have a ship which fry could get in, a coconut little cave thing which they can hide in, moss on the top of that, and i have a log which they can get under, but out of all these they have decided to hide behind the filter!!!!! im not sure if they are getting food now as the filter blows the food away

1. If you leave the molly fry in the breeder net, they will grow much, much slower. I have the same problem. I've had a guppy fry for about 3 months now and she's just an inch long. Mollies grow a bit faster than guppies though. 2 months at the least is my answer.
2. Yes... buy the biggest one to prevent more growth problems.
3. If they don't have any disease, then sure :) My 2 guppy fry are the only survivors of about 50. If your molly has any more that you put in with them, be sure to kill the ones who are sickly or injured. It may seem harsh, but it can effect the others around him. The sick or injured fry won't be able to survive anyway, so it's best to just kill them while they're young.
4. Use a big net with small-holed mesh. They are fast little buggers! :D

From experience with platy fry... I think they kind of "know" when they are safe from being eaten... they just get braver and the fish dont bother them, when they are so small they dart towards any cover... after awhile you will notice them coming out for longer periods of time.
