OKAY, I love my fish!! Its fins got clamped so I got bettaFix remedy for it. The fins got much better but a white cottony thing appeared on the fishes face. I stopped using bettaFix and the white cottony thing disappeared and turned into a hole. Now another one appeared on the Betta's eye, and is also turning into a hole. I bought PIMAFIX, an antifungal remedy but only used one drop (it says one teaspoon for 10 gal) I have the fish in a vase! What else should do. The fish is at room temperature which isnt too bad (my other fish dont have any problems). Is there anything else I can do for my betta! I just lost my favorite who decided to jump out of his bowl when I was asleep. Now this one got sick. Please help me!!!!

Have you changed any water yet , you should , 10 - 20%.

You may have to treat for bacterial infection .

Have you looked through the pinned articles at the top of this page , you really should , they can be a big help with diagnosis and treatment .

I'm assuming this fish is a betta, right?

If possible, move it into something bigger. But if you can't, try to change atleast some of it's water each day. Keeping the fish in very "clean" water will help.

It sounds more like a bacteria problem, than fungus. True fungus is more opaque, and harder to see. This sounds like something along the lines of mouth fungus (if it was on the mouth), which isn't actually a fungus.
Normally I would suggest using Melafix and PimaFix, but I think you need to use something stronger since it sounds like it's pretty advanced. I'm not sure which one you need, but try and get Maracyn or Maroxy....I think Maracyn is the one you want (maybe someone can help me clarify that).

I've also used a pinch of aquarium salt to help my bettas against bacteria and fungal infections.

OMG, I always change my fishes water, every week. I add betta plus water conditioner! Now the fish looks possest!! I have bought pimafix today. No its not on the mouth the first white fluff appeared on the right eye and turned into a huge white hole in its head. The eye popped out but then returned to normal. Then another white fluff appeared, this time way more huge and the other eye is popped out. I put in one drop of pimafix. Dont know how much to use! tahnk you so much

Can this bacteria be spread to my other betta which is in a separate bowl right next to the infected one? They used to always puff up and fight all day until this one got isck!!

As long as you make sure not to use anything in the healthy betta's bowl after you've used it in the other's, you should be fine.

How big are the bowls you are keeping the bettas in? If it's less than a gallon, you might want to start doing partial water changes two times a week...this may help as well.

Is the ill betta eating at all?

For the time being, you may want to move the two bowls away from each other so they can't flare or "fight" one another. This can sometimes stress the bettas.

The healthy betta is in a betta sphere with light, the ill one is in a vase about the same size. I changed the water this morning. It is eating only about 2 pellets a day. It completely refused it today though! I have all types of food, like black worms, freeze dried blood worms, brine shrimp, pellets etc..I will separate them, I rememeber when my good betta was extremely stressed from the petstore and I brought this one home, he made the stressed one normal and always wanting to fight. Now this one got sick. Thanx for all your help, I hope he gets better

I just read the pinned article HITH a few minutes before reading this one, and the symptoms seem to match up. He may have had that. How much water did your tank hold?
Not too much, about a liter! I got a new fishy with a bigger betta bowl so it can "flare" with my other fish!!

To be honest I think it was due to black worms, the fish started developing white fuzzy cotton after I fed it blackworms fo the fist time!

First off I just want to say that I am pretty much a beginner fish keeper. :) By a lot of research on this forum I have learned a lot, but I am by no means any kind of expert. Anyway, that out of the way B) , my thoughts on this are that maybe you needed more frequent water changes, and maybe bigger containers for your bettas. In my 1 gallon tanks (about 4 liters) amonia is readible after 3 or 4 days, and that's when I do a 50% water change by sucking junk off the gravel with a syphon. I also suck out any uneaten food with a turkey baster about 5 minutes after feedings. Any level of ammonia is stressful for a fish. One of the things Semper Fi said in the pinned topic is that one form of hole in the head can be caused by poor water quality (high ammonia, nitrAte, nitrIte levels, accumilated fish waste/uneaten food). Another thing she said could cause it is a pathogen in the fishes guts. It's normally kept in check by the fishes immune system, but if the fish gets stressed (perhaps by said poor water quality, or other envirenmental causes like big temp. changes, etc.) and the immune system drops for too long, it can get out of hand and cause the disease. If you can afford it, and have the room, you should get bigger tanks for them, or at least get water test kits and keep an eye on your water perameters every couple of days. They will be happier and healthier with clean water and bigger containers though, and that way you can  them even longer. Did you read through the article? If not, you might want to just so you know what to do if it happens again. Sorry for your lost betta, and for the long post, but I hope this helps :)
