Help Needed

ok ive aquired a fluval roma 200 for free this afternoon and an assortment of fish. it comes with a fully mature aqua one aquis 1500 external filter. after setting up the aquarium and treating the water with de-chlorinator WHEN CAN THE FILTER BE SWITCHED ON WITH CONFIDENCE THE BACTERIA WILL NOT BE HARMED??? the filter was switched off around 3 hours a go and the media is full of the old water. any advise please asap cos the fish are in a large container and ready to go in.

You should be fine turning on the filter now the water is dechlorinated, keep in mind the filter won't be as efficient for a few weeks as the change it water may kill some of the bacteria. But you should be fine, turn on the filter and get the tank running

Dechlorinator will work instantly. Turn on the filter if you haven't already done so. If there are air bubbles forming on the glass and other things, just brush them off with your hand and don't worry about it. Beneficial bacteria need both oxygen and food to survive so as soon as you can get the filter running and the fish in the better off they will all be. Just be sure to keep an eye on the water test results until you are sure the bacteria are doing their job.

all sorted now so ill just wait and see how we go. ill be testing every day or so.
