hi all i am new to this site but need help if poss please .
i have had my tank for twelve months now and all has been well .
intill now my gourami has be come fat and bloated looking .
i do not have my stats at the mo but last week all was fine .
only one scale is protruding but he looks very bloated any ideas ?
thanks

A swollen abdomen (also known as emaciation) is normally linked to an internal bactera infection - which can kill fish very quickly. Do your fish have any of these other symptons?
- Swollen Eyes
- Open Sores (ulcers)
- Reddening/Bloodstreaks under the skin surface
- Gills pale and eroded
- Loss of appetite

If you have any of these as well then I would definatly say you have an internal bacterial infection and will need treatment ASAP.

Sounds like dropsy if a scale is sticking out.
All there left to do is an epson salt bath.

nope no other fish involved just gourami .
i have
1xbrts
6xcardinals
3xglowlight tetras
2xclowns
2xflying fox
it has been in 6 months never any major probs before no new fish ,regular water changes ,everyone else healthy .
what would have caused it in the first place ?
sorry to be a newbie but everything was going so well lol

will isolate and treat asap
