I have a tank which contains two female guppies. :) I doubt one is pregnant. Today I have bought one male guppy, one pregnant female guppy and three Corys. :D well the Corys are okay. 8) I have put the female pregnant guppy in a plastic ocntainer floating in the tank as I expect she might deliver any moment :shout: but she seems nuts and wants to go out. :S the other male just bought seems aggressive :grr: :grr: :grr: is that normal? he is harassing the old females :hey: :hey: :hey: so I sparated him in another plastic conatiner floating. he wants to go out but I am afraid he will continue harassing the old females until he kills them. what 's happening? :sly: :sly: :sly:

and to make matters worse the female pregnant guupy managed to jump from the container    into the tank    how can I keep her or the others from eating the fry? :X :X :X

Bless her she wanted to be out, some fry will survive if there is plenty of plants and hiding spaces.
The male guppy is normal behavour he showing then who's boss, it will settle down.

Guess what :) I had a round vessel I put some shells, a live plant and a tube giving some air and transferred the pregnant female to this little vessel. hope she and her fry survives. I am thinking of keeping male in his container for a while or should I set him free? :S

Let him go, and keep a close eye on him, its normal livebearer behavour.

most of the time it looks like the male is agresive but infact he is trying to be the stud and houning the women for a rumble in the plnats.

as for the female. i would leave her in the tank. but i would get a really bushy plant / plants this is the best way for you guppy to give birth. when i first started doing this i always put the guppy in the plastic tank but with over half of the situations the female died due to the stress of being in the small tank. also if the fry dont fall between the gap the mother finds it easy pickings for the fry.

Guppies will eat and eat and eat until litraly explode.(they wont explode) but they will get kidney failure and die

that male (I have watched him) he insists on following a certain female . :grr: :grr: :grr: why is female in particular?
as for leaving pregnant female to deliver in the normal tank how would I be able to feed the fry while feeding the normal fish? :sly: :sly: :sly: won't the big fish eat them if they come up to the surface to eat :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: and won't the tank get dirty quickly when I put two kinds of food for the big fish and the fry? :fun: :fun: :fun:

what i did was to gring my flakes dowm really small. the larger fish will still eat it but its like eating soup with a tea spoon for us. also the food will sink and go into the plants. another thing. the plants will get a growth of algae and bacteria that the fry love. so either way the fry will survive. but you have to make sure the plants are tightly packed together.
if you do a search on theis site for Java moss the fry really love that plant.

:thanks: Thanks Widler for your concern :D :D :D and GUESS WHAT the female gave guppy gave birth to let'ssay 20-30 little guppies    I left them in the rounded vessel and transferred their mum to the tank.
but there is one problem left :shifty: :shifty: :shifty: a guppy refuses to swim and prefers to hide within rocks.   She doesn't seem able to pass her wastes because it hangs down from her. What's wrong with that fish? she seemed quite healthy yesterday. :look:

Congrats.
She could be constipated try some shelled peas on her.
When livebearers are giving birth all the time is shortens there life span, i would get the fish on a good varied diet, as she will need it giving birth all the time, frozen foods and veg, plus livebearers love algae flakes.

Well I fed her nothing as she was hiding within rocks :look: but next day she was swimming normally with the others although she was a little thin. :sly: Should I do something for her or should I just watch? B)

How thin is she, they can go thin after birth.
