My friend got me some live ancharis (I think) as a gift. I had it in my 2.5 for a while and all was well but I had to turn off my filter to put in my new guppy fry ( :) yay!) So I moved the plant. Now the anacharis is in my ten gallon....and brownish-green algea is growing on the rocks, the decoration, and starting to (in small spots mind you) on the front of my tank (!) My cories aren't eating it so far as I know. What can I do??? Should I ditch the plant?? Help! (btw, it isn't time for me to clean the tank yet, the plants haven't even been in there for a week...)

i dont think the plant is directly responsible for the algae if anything i would make it harder for algae to grow

Plants usually reduce algae growth. I got a couple of plants for my tank, and I havent cleaned the glass in like 3 weeks. Surely there must be some other problem. Check the lighting, have you increased the lighting for the plants? Also, check for overfeeding.

Assuming that there is no problem with plants and overfeeding, there could be a problem with nitrates, check on it.

If nothing works, just do a little WC

Thank you guys for helping me. I have been overfeeding. I didn't think that would cause the algea to grow. Course it makes sense because I started over feeding because I ran out of those bottom-feeder pellets and I didn't want my cories to starve. Ooh, I feel so lame. Thanks again!
