I have had four pim pictus cats for about two years now........Just recently I found one dead in my tank. In the evening it was perfectly fine, but by morning it was dead.No sign of any illness, disease or anything else.(By the way....my water tests are all fine and dandy!!)
Yesterday,I noticed another of my pims behaving a little abnormally.....nothing major.....just not himself. Today when I got up,his tail had been chewed off by the other fish........
I have hospitalised him........but I really need some advice here.I don't want to lose all my pims. How long are pims supposed to live?

i dont think it is natural death if he is getting his tail chewed off.

Pictus cats should live for 10 years plus. What fish are they in with again? If its some of the Cichlids then its probably just down to poor choice of tankmates.

Hello Cfc.....They are in with syno angelicus, clown loaches, tiger loach, scooby(edward to you!!),siamese algae eaters,....Think thats all in that tank. Any advice??

Move them away from the tiger loach, tiger loaches are aggressive fin nippers and i would put money on it being those doing the damage.

Yes deffinatly the tiger loach by the sounds of it. From what I have heard they are very nippy (more so than normal loaches - yoyos and zebras etc.).

How big is the tiger loach? If it is quite large it is probably being terratorial and will continue to be so until he has staked out his terratory clearly to the other fish.

However, if it is not the tiger loach, then the other option could be the siamese algae eater. There are 2 types, one is vicious and the other is not. Sometimes the more viscious of the species is accidently sold to the general public and can turn out to be very evil, eating and wounding other fish.
