he is swimming vertically.
Has bits of his tail missing.
looks really unhappy.

I have changed the water by 30% today with some water I had ready with safe water in.
I did a 50% water change a week earlier.

The other fish seems okay. Whats wrong with him?

What shouls i do? He looks so unhappy and keeps bumping into things.

please help. He isnt even swimming just floating about hitting the rocks I feel so bad for him.

what other fish are in there with him? Missing tail sounds like he's being bitten.

its just him and a serpae tetra.

He has only just got really bad today. I've had him since easter.
It seems very sudden :(

Dont think he will live long.

It's possible the serpae is harrassing them. I've heard bad things about those guys. Nippy and aggressive species of fish fish are more docile when they're young, and will display slightly more aggressive behavior as they grow. Nippy species of tetras in general should be kept in larger groups so they will only bicker amongst each other and leave other fish alone.

neons and serpae and all tetras in general should be kept in groups of 6 or more of their own species, regardless. how big is your tank?

Neon tetras these days are also fragile to new fish tanks. How long was your tank set up for before you added the tetra?

I think your right about the serpae.
the woman at the shop said they'd get on okay. I had 2 serpae and 2 neons but one of each died. I hated the serpae after i added them. I thought about taking them back they were bullying my other fish.
Im just going to let nature take its place.

Then i think ill get 5 neon tetras.

my tank is 15 litres.
the serpae where added just over a week ago.
