i recently got 4 guppies in my tank 2 male 2 female i knew one was pregnant.this morning i saw she looked slimmer and i seen her give birth to 2 babies,1 of which swam straight into my fighting fishs mouth and got eaten,i dont no wat happened to the other i cant see any now how many do they usually have??
and what are the chances of survival in my 2ft by 2ft tank i have 2 guaramis,1 fighter,11 neon tetras,1 rosy barb,1 plec,1 clown loach i have quite a lot of plants in there.i hope some survive what are the chances and how long does it take for them to get bigger and noticable?its so cruel how they get eaten poor things...

Survival with those fishes is very slim. Guppies tend to have around 5 - 30 babies so if you can find any that survived, you should move them immediately. They should be safe to release when they are at least 3 to 4 weeks old.

Do do also have quite a lot of fish in the tank fighter's, neons, and barbs all love to eat fry as well to the odd's are very low unless u remove the fry.

Pretty much all those fish in your tank will make a snack out of the fry. If you have rocks in your tank, you will most likely have survivors as the fry will hide between them and have plenty of room to grow in between the rocks.

This is my tank, and the round stones provide lots of space in between them that the larger fish cannot get into at all. I actually removed quite a bit of the stones as the survival rate was too high and I was worried about overpopulating my tank too quickly. I still see survivors grow up to adults. Some fry, even though small, never become a snack and act like the boss of the tank.

a good way ive found is to pile up marbles in the tank, making dire they wont fall. the small fry hide in the gaps, safe from the adults. most of your tanks inhabitants will eat the fry given the chance.

My guppy fry hide in my long plants. I also have some elodea floating on the top of the tank so they can hide in that.

When they get a little older, like a few days old they come out more.

But the betta will eat them for sure.

My first guppy birth, only 2 fry were born, I think she had a prem birth and died soon after because of the trauma.
