my friend doesnt have the internet so i am posting on behalf of her, She has some guppys and swordtails and she noticed they keep what she says as scratching on the bog wood, i said it could be white spot, but there are no white spots or signs of fungus on the fish, does anyone know what this could be?

their doing the BEAR NECESSITIES i think

but seriously it could be the very frist signs of whitespot so treatment with a med that treats a variety of things in one go should do the trick, then shes sure to get it sorted what ever it is.

Ich as noted by white dots on the fish is not the ailment itself. It is the fish's reaction to it, Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it's there. If you think it's ich, crank up the temperature in the tank to 87F and leave it there for two weeks, you should kill off any of the ich. Going lower than 87F won't help as ich thrives better in warm temperatures that are under about 85F.

ahh i didnt know that i would have thought it would make it spread more, does she still need to buy anti white spot? or just crank her heater up?

Heat is all you need. If your other tank inhabitants can allow it, add 1 tablespoon of aquarium salt for every 5 gallons of water.
