Help my Fish is laying on its side

My black ghost knife is laying on its side.(if you don't knoew what it is its my avitar)
I just came in and it was fwimming and then it just slowly started sinking. Its gills are still moving, but it is just lying there doing nothing.

Please help.

The temp was low it dropped to like 70-72. Its rising and its now at 72-74 he just started swimming around fine. Thanks for the info though.

What happened to make the temp drop so fast?

Make sure you don't up the temp too fast. 1-2 degrees F every couple hours at the most.

It just dropped between when i went to my friends and when I came back I don't know how it just did. I have a brand new whisper heater and I thought they were good heaters.

He keeps laying on the floor. He gets up swims around and sinks. What is wrong.

He died this morning. I don't think I'll get another, because it was never out when I could see it anyway.
