Folks - My wife has an established 10 gallon community tank with inexpensive tropicals - a few tetras, a rasbora, couple of corydoras. We introduced 2 Von Rio tetras about a week ago, and 6 days ago, 2 hatchets and a rummy nosed tetra. We now have four dead, including one of the oldtimers - a Cardinal. But I don't see any signs of illnes. None are swimming or behaving oddly - they are just dying.

What should I do? I could put them all in new water but I have no conditioned water - just tap. And its Sunday so its hard to get good fish advice from a shopowner.

Any ideas? Thanks

Hi,

Sorry to hear about your problem but you will get more of a response if you post this question in the Tropical Emergencies section.

First thing you definately need to do is test the water. Get a water kit or your LFS can check it for you. With so many fish in a 10 gallon, my guess is your water has some ammonia.

Please post back with water stats. Good luck with the fish.

What happened was you introduced the fish in too close a range of time. you need to wait at least 2-3 weeks before introducing new fish. it is too stress ful for them
