Ive had the tank set up for 4 months now and ive had three angels in the tank for a good 3 months with no problem

i lost one angel about 3 weeks ago for no apparent reason.. and only 4 days ago i lost another angel becuase it seemed constipated, i tried feeding it green's and cut back on meaty products... and now a third angel has been refusing to eat ever since i lost my last angel, it would suck it into its motuh but then spit it right out, id would hate to lose this last angel also, ive noticed that it seems to be bleeding internally around its mouth? im not too sure, any ideas would be greatly appreciated

hmmm abit about my tank, 80l, nitrate 0, amonia 0 and ph of 7.2 i had an outbraek of white spot about a month ago which seems to be under control after using malachite green and a stress coat product along with siphoning of the gravel, i lost a drawf gourami 2 month ago after trying to treat him for a body ulcer... ago recently lost a black ghost knife which seemed to be under stress (it didnt hide in the tude i provided for him) but toher than that my 6 tiger barbs, 2 clown loaches, 2 lemon tetras, one bristlenose catfish, 1 gourami and two silver sharks... i am thinking my tank is abit over stocked but i am not too sure becuase i was told by the lfs, it can house about 18 fish (correct me if i am wrong)

:X
Your tank is much too small...
Angels, the blackghost(is it 20" tops?), loaches(some have got bigger than a foot) and the silver sharks all get alot bigger than you'd think....

Also angels much prefer slightly acidic water....
You need to research each species individually...
Search on here and you'll get plenty of info, or look on the FAQ

ohh fair enough... my bad by far

hmm the fish are going to be moved to a larger tank when they get bigger = ) i have a 4ft lined up or a 120l

angels are okay between 6.5 - 7.2 i guess its just abit high.. but i doubt that would be the reason why i am losing my angels = (

I don't know about illnesses really, i think Wiggles may post, you'll get more sense from her, but i'm confident 120litres won't be enough for your stocking level.
Have you researched your indiidual fish?

i'm slightly confused by your test results, you should never have 0 nitrate and ammonia

ammonia and nitrIte should always be 0, and you should have some reading for nitrAte. when the tank is cycling you may have 0 nitrAte but would have ammonia.

because of this i think your test results may be off which would explain a string of illness's like this.

what test kit are you using and how old is it?

can you take some water to an lfs an ask them to test for ph, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate and let us know what the results are

never fear wiggles here ;)

yeah the tank is overstocked for sure, although if the fish are small it may not be causing problems just yet

for long term you do need to look at the stocking though, the idea of any tank holding a certain number of fish is just ridiculous. 18 tetra's need a very different tank to 18 pacu's.

have a read of the link in my sig about stocking which should help you work out how to choose appropriate fish

ohh sorry about abotu the misunderstanding but it was a typo

umm it was nitrite that was on zero on my test hmmm i just JBL and i bought it when i set up my tank so about 4 months ago

i just did a quick test and yea the readings are zero again but ill go to my lfs tomorrow and ask for a proper test incase i am doing anything wrong

was there anything i can do now, becuase i do not want to loose that last angel

thank you for the fast replies :)

do a 20% water change to make sure the water is nice and clean

the bleeding internally thing sounds like it could be septacemia, google search for pics and see if that looks like your fish, post a pic of your fish here if your not sure.

for septicima you need pristine water, low stress and an anti bacterial medication

got to go now got a physio appointment so probably won't be able to help anymore until tomorrow

okok! thanks for your help = ) hmm i will do a water change now even though it it 1 in the morning hahaha hmm anti baterical medication i am currently using melafix ill continue the treatment of the fish and ill tell you how everything goes, ill try to post a picture of my tank and angel fish tomorrow just for clarification = ) thanks again
