Im near the end of my cycle and want stocking ideas for a planted 248L (55G) COMMUNITY TANK.

i like tetra's, killifish, endlers and the fancy guppy
anyone know of some nice species?
what killifish can i mix?

Killifish cant go with any of the others, really they belong in species only tanks as they have special requirements in terms of water, are very aggressive and those that are less fussy with water will happily eat small fish.

Neons, Endlers and Guppies will get on great, just remember, if you do mix male and female guppies, treat your male endlers as if they were male guppies! The general rule is 1 male to 2 female.... so if you have 3 male guppies and 3 male endlers... you still need 12 female guppies.... and so on.

Personally... i would say dont bother with females! no one will want the babies and you'll end up over run...

the guy in my fish store said that theres a couple of killifish that are peaceful and can go with them, they were an orange colour, but not as pretty as the notho =(

Some like the australis are more docile but tbh id certainly never ever trust a killi with Endlers, they are an insect eating fish.... hence the upturned mouth (for eating insects at surface) and endlers are small enough to be a snack.

That said, if you dont know EXACTLY what species that killifish is, DONT buy it, dont rely on the LFS advice and dont buy fish you dont know what are, you need to be able to do some research and so you need their name.

Check out rainbowfish. They are often overlooked but make a great schooling/showcase fish. Colors are amazing! There are so many different kinds/colorations also.

I have recently fell in love with threadfin rainbows. Boesemani rainbows are stunning also.

I totally agree. I bought some red rainbow fish about six weeks ago, they were grey in the shop and stayed that way for a week or so but now they have coloured up really nicely, beautiful fish. I got two more just over a week ago to make a shoal of six. The new ones are tiny and grey in comparison, it is not surprising that they get overlooked at the LFS but they are the most stunning fish.
