it doesn't matter anymore, iam gutted.

I feel really disheartened I did everything right, water is ideal, all that effort and it just died.

I hate it when Iam responsible for a beatifull creature dying.

I'm sorry to hear he died. Sometimes it just happens, was he still getting bullied by the venustus?

Iam not really sure.

He spent a lot of time in the past few days at the top of the tank facing the back wall, whether that was a sign of being ill or just caused by bullying stress I dont know.

If I had more cichlid experience perhaps I would recognise the sign a bit better.

Venustus used to chase him a bit, but he does that to all the cichlids, normally they just speed off and either hide or he gets distracted and chases something else.

Venustus wasn't constantlty pursueing him round the tank, no.
But did the stress cause a problem over time, I dont know.

And it was only yesterday that i was worried about my water quality, the test strip said it was perfect.

I read on here that they are not 100% reliable so I went to the shop and they tested my water for me with the liquid testing gear.

lol yeah just abit , it could of just been a weak fish couldn't handle the stress very well like the others can maybe, don't beat yourself up over it mate but it is disheartening loosing i fish you really like and don't know why
