The tank is 48 liters and i would like to put tanganyikan cichlids into it.
Maybe 4 smaller ones.
The tank is mature and has been setup for a year so the water isnt a problem. Everything is near zero with nitrate being 20 and the ph is bang on 8.
So can you guys help to advise me as to which cichlids i should get.
It will only hold the one speices so problems wont come around and i will get plenty of shells for them.
Thank in advance :)

imo
 I'm sorry but I dont recomend shell dwellers to anything less then a 20 g long.
small tanks are harder to keep stable and should really be reserved for quarentine tanks or hospital tanks only.

I agree with dthoffsett, as long as you keep up with maintenance then you'll be fine. :good:

With all my tanks i replace all filter pads when they need replacing and do around 25% water change every week and test the water in my 3 tanks for ammonia, nitrate, nitrite and the ph every week so if problems come around i know and sort them out.
So can anyone suggest a species i could keep.
Remember the tank size and i would like to keep 4-5 fish of one species of tanganyikan cichlids.
Oh and by the way the tank dimentions are:-
Across-61cm
Wide-30cm
High-26cm

The link in my last post has the species and numbers suitable to your tank size.

Ok thanks guys.
I added 2 more litres of water today to make it a 50 litre so maybe that will help just a little bit, the more water the better.

I have a small family of neolamprologus multifaciatus ( male, female and 5 offspring, some almost grown) who are doing well in my 35l tank.
