My friend was getting rid of a tropical fish tank so I said I would take it as it was all set up and ready to go with the fish!!!

Now its all very nice and the fish are pretty but they are going to kill each other now I dont know if its because they are not supposed to be in with each other or maybe they are eating the wrong food or maybe the tank is not big enough! But I cannot find out any of this until I identify them!

Please help as they have teeth and im sure they are going to do damage to each other and it just seems cruel to leave them too it! LOL I know im soft!

I have tried to take some pictures but they are not brilliant!

Thank you

PS how do I add photos?

Upload the pictures to a site like imageshack.us. Most of those sites will give you message board code you can paste into a post to add pictures.

You can also get an album account at a site like Flickr and link to that.

Anyway, not knowing anything else, I will offer one bit of advice now: If you don't have one, get a test kit. There's a few options - strips are cheap, but don't give many tests and are inaccurate. All the best (both in cost per test and accuracy/reliability) options are liquid based test kits - you want ammonia, nitrIte, nitrAte, and pH. There's tests for a lot of other stats which aren't as critical for most uses. The API Freshwater Master kit is one of the widely used and available ones. A great many frantic attempts to treat or diagnose a problem simply boil down to water quality.
