Hai all! I am ordering my first 10 Gallon aquarium today, and when it gets here I need to pick some fish obviously, but I am not truly sure what I want.

On another fish forum, they said I can get about 4-5 Neon Tetras, and 4-5 Glowlight Tetras alongside 2 Mystery Snails, all from Petsmart. If possible, I would want 1-2 more fish, maybe ghost shrimp (although from online they are kind of creeping me out) that preferably eats normal flakes or maybe sinking pellets. I also like bottom feeders a real lot, although due to a reason that would take forever to explain; I have to order from Petsmart. Does anyone have a suggestion? If needed I could change up the current choices I have.

Corydoras paleatus, Peppered cories? If not, try a dwarf gouami. So it would be

1 dwarf gourami
8 glowlight tetras
1 snail.

I would stock it, if i could shop somewhere other than petsmar, like this. Well, this is how i stocked mine. Temp was 80 degrees

2 Blue Ram Cichlids as a pair
8 glowlight tetras
3 peppered cories

Hmm, looked at the gourami, pretty neat. But for the tetras, I kind of want a mix of both. Think 4 and 4 would be good? Also, why one snail?

Oh and, do they need sinking pellets? It looks like they scavenge the ground.

Neon tetras like large schools, 6 bare minimum. One snail because they produce tons of waste. A school of 8 of either tetras would look nice. If you really want a mix of both, do 6 neons, an 4 glowlights. Plus the gourami. Maybe a honey gourami instead? They are both awesome.

Blitz, as long as you have good filtration and live plants, its fine. I kept mine
Ike that for a year before breaking it down and turning it saltwater.

Haha, i had some, they gave birth, and i gave the babies to my puffers.

6 Neons, and 4 Glowlights is pretty good IMO. Then the 1 snail. And for the Dwarf, do they need sinking pellets?

Then the 1 snail. And for the Dwarf Gourami, do they need sinking pellets? Btw, I'll probably keep asking until I actually go to the store itself, I get distracted with all the pretty fish.

They dont need sinking. Feed them flakes with the occasional frozen bloodworm or brine shrimp treat.

Guys, I had found a dedicated fish store near me, and I may be able to get from there. Any other recommendations? It's dedicated to fish and fish alone, so I should I look for there?

Hey welcome to FishForums :). The people here are really nice and helpful I myself are kinda new to the forums and I've learned a lot from the people here and the threads they have pinned. I noticed it is your first 10G tank? As in your first tank that size or first tank ever? If it is your first tank you should probably read up on cycling etc. here is the link on information into it http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/277264-beginners-resource-center/ It is really important you cycle your tank because if not all your fish could die :(. I've had this problem myself and had to do a fish-in cycling. If it is your first tank I wouldn't suggest adding Neons to your tank if its still cycling because they need a mature tank if not they will end up dying.

You could speed up your cycling by asking anyone with a mature fish tank to give your their filter media and place some of the filter in your filter media to help speed things up. Maybe even ask your LFS it makes things go way quicker from what I've read.

It's my first tank ever, so I really am not familiar. And don't really understand cycling, anyone mind giving me a simple summary?

I don't understand cycling either... :( I read over this website, and I'm still confused.
