hey guys. i got a great deal today in a like-new 75G glass tank with everything.
i need help identifying the four fish that were included in the sale with the tank.
I will be using the tank for my rainbows/angels, so these fish will be traded for credit at a local store
and I want to know 1) their name 2) average store value at their current size (i get 1/2 retail price as store credit = lots of great plants, etc.)

1. this guy looks to be an African cichlid of some sort, but that's not my area of expertise. I don't keep them, but I can appreciate their beauty and this guy is amazing.
He(?) is 8" from end to end.

2. this other guy looks very rare. the mouth reminds me of a cat or something. very colorful. I would assume also African but can't be sure. About 6.5-7" from end to end.

3. I believe this is a Parrot Cichlid, which I think is South American, but like I said, i'm not sure. This is about 4.5-5" from end to end. Light pinkish-orange color.

4. last fish I don't have a picture for, it is a Raphael Catfish, that is about 3-4" total length, but I'm not sure as he keeps hiding!

thank you for helping me identify these fish. remember to mention approximate value if you know it!

thanks a ton :good:

1. is a gorgeous male Nimbochromis livingstonii, one of the haps from Lake Malawi

2. is a male Labeotropheus trewavasae, on of the mbuna from Lake Malawi, I don't see them often here but they aren't rare by any means

3. Is indeed a parrot, usually marketed as a Blood Parrot, they are a man made hybrid.

I can't give you any values on them though as pricing is determined by local supply and demand. For example, I have seen the L.trewavasae listed at anywhere from $3.00 to over $50 depending on what part of the country it's in.

thanks for the reply. i had asked also in another forum and i'm getting pretty consistent information. at least now i know what fish I have.
thanks! :good:
