Can anyone help?

I am new to tropical fish and have just established my first tank. I started with 1 male 1 female Cherry Barb, 2 female sunset Platys and 2 female Dalmation Mollies. A month in everything has been fine apart from a slightly aggressive Molly.

I have just bought 10 Neon Tetra and 6 Male Guppies. The Tetra are fine but the Guppies are really harrassing/trying to breed with the Platys. I did ask advice in the pet store but was told female guppies are ugly!

I'm assuming I need to either get rid of the Guppies or buy more females, otherwise the Platys may die of exhaustation and stress? I don't really fancy my chances of swapping the fish back at the store. Has anyone done this before?

Thanks, any advice would be really appreciated

Well, the people at your lfs were very stupid. Ofcourse when you put 6 males in with the 2 females they will be harassed. I would suggest either buying more females or giving back 4 or 3 males to the lfs.

female guppies look ugly...??? WHAT?? Your lfs are morons! I have female guppies that would put lfs male guppies to shame! On another note, you probably added to many fish at once. Don't be surprised to see ammonia shoot up.
