My betta Yang is acting very strange as of a day ago, he seems to have no energy and just floats and leans on his plants and doesnt move. I thought there was something wrong, i started seeing some fuzz growing on the plants and walls of the tank and just about everything. it wasnt there a day before. So i went to do a water change and rinse the filter pad, and i lifted the lid and its COVERED in white fuzz, thick white slimey fuzz. the sam stuff all over the tank only mass amounts of it. So i did a partial water change, wiped everything off, but now the water is very thick looking, and cloudy, and the fuzz keeps growing back. I am worried about yang. could this be making him sick?

FYI

the tanks 5 gallons and cycled.
temperature stays around 78-82
and i havent added anything new or fed live food.
He is the only thing in the tank.

he is still eating, it seems like the only thing that will get him to move... help?

Sounds like algae to me. doubtful it is harming your fish.
that is originally what i thought, cause i saw some stuff forming on my driftwood in my main tank that looked similar, but this stuff is thicker, and grows so fast... i sure hope its just algae!

how long have you had him? is he eating? does he have any other symptoms other than lethargy?
any info would be helpful.

To me it sounds like food thats gone mouldy? The lids on my tank often get this white fuzz when the food that hits the tank lid doesnt get eaten. I just wipe it down and am carefull to not get to much food on the lid now. While mine has never spread into the tank, from what i know about mould it likes to grow and uneaten food and light wont help.

Whats the ph and ammonia levels etc of the tank?

Awesome site loarxchick :) i will have a read of it.
