Hi i bought some Rainbow gobies and have found 2 odd gobies? They have a large black dorsal fin and light in colour?
Any help would be appreciated as I'd like to know what's in my tank!

Im interested to know what it is as well. Could it be a juvenile of the species? the size and colour make me think it isn't fully grown, but I've never kept Stiphodon so I'm not 100% sure.

Gobies are very hard to ID. They are very changeable in appearance. I did a quick search & saw what were called rainbow gobies (s. ornatus) that looked kind of like your fish. I've only kept 3 species of stiphodon but not that 1, so not at all helpful. They may color up better after they adjust to your tank.

Good luck! I'd like to hear what you find out. I love my gobies!

Cool! I hope they color up for you soon.

Just curious, did you get any that look female? Most stiphodons I've seen are all male except for a tank of all females once & 1 I got that didn't survive quarantine :( I did have 2 pairs of tiny s. percno (?? I forget the rest, lol).

I have what looks like 5 female and 5 male, the males look beautiful.

It's definitely a meat eater as its chasing and trying to eat my shrimp!
Only other tank i have is my elephant noses, hopefully it will settle

Looks like a Stiphodon species. But don't no whuch one. WHat I know frome xprience is that Stiphodon species can change the color intensity depending on the light and water parameters. And a blurry and reddish photo doesn't help that much to determine the correct species in this case.
