Am new to tropical fish, and have a 6 month old Roma 125, have followed most basic rules and advice from friends etc, and things have progressed nicely. However in reading some articles on here i wonder if someone can help me identify the follwing fish that were sold/given to me by the local LFS. I put given as i nevr realised some were in the bag til i got home!

1st one up is the "bully" of the tank, sold to me as an algae eater ! now the biggest and think it maybe an issue keeping him, chases other fish and has taken lumps out of my Gourami!

next up is another algae eater, but totally different colouring and attitude, this is very timid, but that may change as it gets bigger almost pink in colour

and finally the freebie that i never knew about!!! Found this in amongst a group purchase and have no ideas what it is!!! silver with a black stripe, very nice looking actually came with the algae eater iirc

all the fish are happy, some are breeding like rabbits, have no algae issues to report at present but just wondered if the algae eaters are going to be a future issue as the tank matures. I don't plan to add as I purchased small fish in order to get them to grow to the tank and obviously started with the easy breeds, the idea was to create lots of movement to keep the kids interested, rather than watching TV. And yes getting them involved means they spend more time watching the fish than the TV!!!!!

seems that a quick search answered these questions lol
first two appear to be the typical chinese algae eaters that will answer their attitude to the gourami!!! Not really what i want in the tank as they are know for their attitude, the third one turns out to be a Siamese algae eater by all accounts, and ideal to be kept on it's own!!
Anyone want a couple of chines algae eaters then?????? lol

i would but i'm in the land down under :fun: i own three of the yellow buggers (until tha ate each other!) i'm nearly always switching tank mates so none of my fish get hurt it's hard work!

You'll have to catch them first-very fast fish-so many people get these expecting them to be fine in a small community tank-a river fish always and needs a big tank, but good luck trying to get rid of them.
