My fish have ICH!

I have been doing everything I can with them. I have raised the temp. of the tank to close to 85. I have been adding the ICH medicine 2 times per day. I have removed all the carbon/charocol filters in the tank.

The ICH is spreading. I had 2 clown loaches, and they have died now. The tank is a 55 gal. tank and it seems to be spreading fast to the other fish.

Anything else that I can do that I should be doing???

They've had it for about a week now and I've been putting the medicine in for a week now. I have bala sharks and now they are getting it.

What do I do????

Everything you have done so far is right so your on the right track, are there anymore scaleless fish in the tank?If not then add aquarium salt at a dose of 1 teaspoon per 5 gallons which will also help. Also it is best your fish get as little stress as possible while they try to recover so keep the tank lights off and increase aeriation using a airstone (if you havn't already).

Oh, yeah I forgot.... I did add aquarium salt as well. 1 teaspoon per 10 gal.

The lights are off most of the day (only on during feeding). Areation is at max.

I have 2 scalles fish, a rope/reed fish and a pleco. They seem fine so far.

Anything else to do???

Thanks.

meddaugh,
You are right on track with your treatment. Only bad thing is scale less fish dont do good with ich treatments. The reason you have more fish comming down with it is because they are in a different stage of growth that what treatments work on. After the white spots fall off they sink to the bottom and hatch and become free floating and that is the time that the medicine works on them. Everything I have read on Ich says to turn up the heat and leave the lights on. Thats what I always do. Reason being is that the increase of temp and lights both shorten the life cycle of the tomite making the free floating one more suseptible to treatment. I am not trying to tell anyone what to do.....just passing alone what I have learned.
Also after you see the last white spot you need to treat the tank for several more days as this will help in getting the last of the tomites

med,

Nothing else to add here, but......what type of ich medication are you using??

CM

I have been using QuickCure and RidIch+.

Oh, I did also put in 1 teaspon of salt/gal of water. I put in 10 teaspons for the 55 gallon tank.

So far it looks like they might be falling off the other fish now, so we are continuing to put the medicine in 2/day.

Med,
Rid Ich is what I use, I treat daily one time for 10 days and then every other day for 6 days after that. My temp is increased and I do leave my lights on. After 10 days I didnt see any spots but I always continue to treat to get everything.
Looks like you are on the right path to recovery.

One of my german rams got ich, I used malkon and within a few hours some of his spots disappeared in two days he was healthy and I have a bristle nose in the tank and 6 tetras that are fine with the medicine. If all else fails try it.
