Help Fast Almost boiled my oscar

My heater stuck on overnight I just went to do a water change and test the water and found it was at 98 Degrees F. I've shut down the heater and taken the lid off the tank to help it cool. What else can I do? Would I shock the fish if I removed 1 gallon(out of a 5G) and then replaced it with cooler water?

That would be fine just make sure the temp difference is not to great. You may have to repeat the procedure several times to get it back down to normal temp. good luck sky
