Hi, I am new to this I have just noticed one of my fish has part of his tail, the other has no tail. Can the tail grow back ? I did say I'm new... Thank's Christine x :*)

Need to know size of tank in gallons or litres, water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph, and what fish do you keep and how many.

It should grow back. The big question is who ate it? The culprit needs to be removed or it will continue to do damage.

:*) Thank's guys :) I think it was one of the mollies as it seem's to be chasing every thing that moves. Cheer's for that. Christine x

Hiya,

I'm like you, just new to this :) I've always had a tropical tank since I was small, but have only recently started getting really interested in it and doing the best to give good care to my fishes...Over the years fish I've had have had their tails bitten or caught a disease, but I found that they do grow back...I find they start off with a sort of 'line of white skin' then gradually the colours would come out, in my 10gallon tank I keep guppies, and one had a very bad shredded tail when I put it in my tank (silly me didn't notice when I asked the guy to put 2 males and two females in!) And at the time I didn't even know what a quarantine tank was...anyways, in a matter of weeks, it's almost grew back, and he looks alot happier for it :D
Just my experience though

Hi, thank's for that I only got into it because of my son, got a tank last year he got fed up with it so I took over, now i have a 20 gallon tank with about 22 fish &7+ babies. I check the water once a week, do a water change every 2 weeks . friend's think I am mad as they all have name's. Thank's Christine x
