Hi all.

Today i went out and bought my self a new Elite Stingray 5 filter and a mimi heater :D Filter only cost me £4 so im chuffed to bits :)

How do i go about cycling my new tank tho?
I have my tank which has been up and running for a while now and also my girlfriends about to replace a filter media cartrige thing so i can have that and also if it will count towards anything she said i can borrow a few of her bio ball things.

From everything i have, whats the best/fastest way to cycle my new 5 gallon?

Cheers

Kev

use things from your cycled tank.

Gravel and the filter media you sed would be a great help.

plus you could use some (dnt fill the tank tho) of the water.

apparently theres not much bacteria in it but im sure itll help.

So just Get the filter on now and add some of my substrate and next time i do a water change add some of that water? Do i just float the old media in the tank too?

ideally you should run the new filter along side an older established filter for 2 weeks.

that way the new filter media can get established in the tank too.

with gravel, water and an old filter running in the new tank then it should be pretty much instantly cycled.

think it was animation on here who jus set up his tank that way and he added his fish after a few hours.
