Hi - 4 days ago my largest angel fish decided to try and jump out of the tank only to hit its head on the light and covering. Ever since then it has been at the bottom of the tank, still breathing but it seems unable to swim - instead it just lays on it's side. I think it may be concussed? It hasnt eaten anything and I am getting worried as the other fish in the tank are starting to pick on it. I have tried leaving the lights out and propping it up - I have also put it into a seperate part of the tank by itself and nothing seems to be working! He is obivously distressed and I want to help him - what can I do?

I don't know a lot about this, other people may have better ideas but I would try and get him into a hospital tank, leave the lights out and just let him rest.

I suspect concussion is one of those things they either get over or they don't.

Or he could have damaged his swim bladder jumping and it's not concussion atall? You can get meds for that.

Thanks for your reply - I just feel so sorry for the fish - he has a lot of fight in him to have lasted this long. Unfortunately I dont have a hospital tank to move him to - so I guess I will just have to wait and see what happens....

If you could, since you don't have a hospital tank, get a breeder trap. The kind that float at the top of the tank. I accidently did that to one of my cories with an ornament, same activity. I put him in a breeder trap and kept an eye on him. Unfotunately he didn't make it past 48 hours. I hope your angel makes it! Btw the traps range from $5-$15 depending on size and company. It would keep the others out, while he rests.
