I have a 180 litre tank which has had fish in for 3 months but can't decide which fish to get next. I would like brightly coloured fish which will get on with the fish I have and any more I get later.
I have
4 leopard danios
2 platys
3 albino cories
My tank is fully cycled and the water is quite hard in this area.
Thanks in advance for any ideas

If it was me Id add a couple of pearl gourami and/or honey gourami.
Gold barb are a nice colourful fish
A shoal of rummynose tetra
Just a suggestion but they all are peaceful and shouldnt limit any future fish choices you make
BTW Id add a couple more leopard danio as they are supposed to be in a shoal of 5 or 6 to avoid any fin-nipping notions they sometimes get
:)

I like the look of the pearl gourami, I think I will get a couple of these and some tetras. Is there any tetras I should avoid because of fin nipping.
Thanks for your help

Most of the fin nipping tetra have that reputation because they are not kept in appropriate numbers or the right conditions eg too small a tank etc
My advice is that if you see a tetra that you fancy then ask in the tetra section here before buying.Dont just rely on what you are told in the fish shop as thats how I ended up getting a few serpae tetra who turned out to be little monsters!
BTW you wont regret getting pearl gourami-they are one of those fish who look better in your tank at home than they do in the shop and can be kept with nearly everything.Enjoy :)

Thanks for your help, I will have a look at the tetras in the shop to see what I like and come back here to check before I buy.

I think a shoal of neon tetras are a nice addition to any tank.

I think a shoal of neon tetras are a nice addition to any tank. Maybe two different shoals with some bigger tetras or other shoaling fish you like.

Thanks for the neon idea I like the look of them, how many do you need to have?

I was going to get a couple more cories but was told to add the fish slowly but I will now make sure to get them next, I will get 2 more danios at the same time.
Thanks for your advice

Yeah its a good thing to add them very slowly. Neon tetras are hardy and like to be in groups of at least 4. You could add 4 at once so they will feel comfortable, but dont add anything else within a week of that and test the water and make sure they didnt raise the ammonia, they probably wont if it is cycled pretty well. Also, make sure you dont get any fish that could fit a tetra in their mouth, they are ofter the target of such fish.

Would it be best to end up with a group of 8 neons to keep them happy, as you can tell I have only been keeping fish for a few months so like to check before I buy anything. And will they be ok with pearl gourami as I hope to get these aswell.
Thanks for your help
