I have a pair of apistogramma cacatuoides in my 30 gallon tank and the female is showing interest in the male. She has built a little cave under a piece of bog wood with java fern on it and is very yellow and keeps swimming up to him and showing her belly. He seems interested for a minute then just looses interest. Is this normal? I have researched breeding these fish on the net but would like some advice of someone that has had experience with them or just knows about it.
Oh I dont know what the water levels are because I have no test kits and have never used them. Never had a problem. The temp is around 75F.
Thanks Josh

A test kit should be the first thing you buy when you have fish, trying to breed fish it is a must IMO

Try putting in more places for her to lay her eggs, i.e. Coconut shells or small plant pots.

Cac's are fairly easy to breed, the extra cave is not a bad idea I wouldn't think it to make a differance though. Mine will lay in all four corners of a bare bottom tank as an example. Cacs do like to right water though to breed in and without a basic test kit is hard to know what you need to change to get the fish in the mood hence the above comment from me :good:
