Just noticed my young betta has what looks like a ball under her skin just before her tail it makes her tail bend the other way a bit! im so confused only just noticed it! Anyone know what it is? Im in the course of myaxzin for another fish hopefully this should help out? Thanks!

just had a look on Google & it says it could be just a wart, apparently fish get them too!!
maybe she has caught herself on something?
i'd just keep an eye on her, if it gets any bigger put her in QT & do some more research, hopefully someone else will have an answer.

Ah right thanks will do my own research on it when i find my laptop charger lol thankyou for looking it was very ncie of you :D i would of looked but my laptop ran out completely and i cant find the charger im now quickly on my sisters laptop but only for like a minute why she does soemthing.

i would give her a salt bath hun in api aquarium salt - could be a cyst - salt bath to reduce the fluid incase its a fluid filled cyst or something
worked with mouse :)

I took this pic on my webcam of it i had to print screen but you can see it, its just before the tail,

Description of the bump:
Its raised i think the scales go over it and it sticks out like a pimple. Doesnt look like it contains liquid just looks like normal scales with a sort of ball under them. pip, getting some salt tomorrow.

loraxchick, thanks for that.I found this that sounds very much like it : A swelling forms in the muscle under the skin during the course of several weeks and may protrude way out from the surface of the body. The scales can be lifted also > A sporozoan cyst or lesion forms in the musculature > No suitable treatment known. Verify by dissecting the fish.

just keep watching her and the lump for any change in color or size. keep that link handy in case it starts to look different and you can reevaluate the diagnosis.
if it is that then good. cant do anything about it and not deadly...just unsightly.
as long as she can swim and eat as normal and the is no change in her behavior she will most likely be ok.
cheers!
