Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior): My lovely Red Betta Died and was living fine for two days, He first fell to the lower part of the tank, we found him and put him into a large cage that hangs from the side of the tanks, he looked much better and was starting to swim again, then he died. He had damage to the fins they were kinda falling off and were very damaged,

Volume and Frequency of water changes: One month old Tank, none yet

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank: None

Tank inhabitants: 6neons (planning to get more) 5 diffrent type of small Catfish (all corydoras)

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration): Only the 5 corydoras and the Fighter

Exposure to chemicals: None,

Digital photo (include if possible): Just about to get it for you,

Ive got a filter and a heater and bubbles running(from a pump) could of these hard the fish and are my other fish in danger??! and at least 8plants.

Without your readings i don't know for sure, but im guessing the fish have ammonia poisining if the tank has only been running a month. Its not fully cycled yet.

We really need water stats. Water quality is the first thing to rule out.
What test kit do you have.

Right Ive tested Nitrite and ive got 0mg/l and im running to the shop to get more kits and get the water tested,

and im Uploading pictures now

Thanks

Ok.
If you can't afford all test kits in one go. Ask the lfs to test the water and ask them to write the reading down for you.
Liquid test kits are the best. The test strip cards are not that accurate.

The Pictures Im uploading, The Betta is in the Mini-tank because it was easyier to move it into there,

We first found it living at the bottum of the tank and its fins had been decaying, but no other fish were intrested in it.

We moved it into the Mini-tank so other fish couldn't hurt it- Just in case,

It Got more energy and started going to the surface for a bit of air, then it just died,

Falling apart fins can be bacterial finrot. But bad water quality if the main cause of finrot.
Bless Him. R.I.P.

Poor thing. He look in really bad shape.

You needed to treat with a bacterial med.
I would definately get your water tested.

Liquid test kits in ammonia, nitrate, and ph.

Always wise to have a whitespot med and bacterial med in stock.
An airstone and air pump. Come in handy for meds and warm weather for more aeration.

Strong currents can damage betta fins. Betta don't like strong current in the tank.

IVe got the air pump and airstone already,

Ill be back in half an hour with the tests, will you still be here??

Should be gone by then. But I will be back later on.

Bettas prefer a temperature of 27 to 28 degrees so slightly warmer than you have at the mo, also I don't think neons go to well with them as being tetras they may tend to fin nip. The last time I kept a betta in a 100l community tank he didn't last long, imo they prefer smaller bodies of water to create a territory and feel safe in, the minimum being 5 gallons and kept by themselves. The males really don't do well in community tanks from my experience but many people do keep them this way.

Ive got a Camera up in the tank and the neons don't really go near the betta, and they keep them together in the fish shop tank about 200-100 neons with one betta and the betta seems fine,

I got about 5 diffrent tests done at the shop all only the amiona levels were a very little bit high, they also gave me a free new betta in a few days, when i change the water and ive put in some of the fungal remover so no other fish get harmed, But other fish in the tank in the shop have now got the fungal infection so i suspect it came from there, put the fish are now fine and ill get the amiona levels down now and the temp up!, Thanks to all of you and i know who to come for help now, thanks

Ill try to get the Fish Cam up onto the live internet!
