i,ve always been around fish as my brother used to breed fish i always sat and watched
recently i got a 5ft long by 1 ft wide and 1.5 ft high tank added smoe rocks got a got a filter and a smaller pump and a heater which is saet at 26 is this correct? had it set up and running till water was clear i went out and borght some fish from a store that was recemended i got 5 cherry barbs and 5 plties and a albino catfish but suddenly my fish seem to be dying so far i,ve lost 3 barbs and 3 platies all the rest seem to be swimming happly and seem ok can ne one help me in where i,m going wrong i,ve been told that beginners tend to loose a few fish at the start is this true ?

The tank isn't cycled I presume which is why your fish are dying.
Cycled in terms of fish keeping is when your filter has nitrifying bacteria which eats away nitrite and ammonia which is harmful to your fish and is created by their waste

please read the above link. try taking the fish back to the shop and properly cycle the tank with no fish in.
