Help Backed Up Filter

So i've been cycling my tank as you all know from my many threads. I just noticed that my filter is backing up because the water cant get through, now my cycle isn't done what should i do?

I have activated carbon and zeolite crystals waiting on hand for a new filter, but i didn't want to do this during the cycle?! help!

Backed up as in isn't passing water through properly? Maybe something's gotten stuck in the impeller. Unplug the filter, and the intake tubing and just take a good look through it. A good rinse with hot water in the sink usually does it for me, and there really should be little die-off with the beneficial bacteria if you have Filter media, just drop that into the tank while you're working on the filter, and be sure to dechlorinate at least a bit afterwards. What kind of filter is it?

Tetra Whisper, the water wasnt flowing through the media is was exiting the wrong side, i freaked cuz my water was instantly white with all the destoryed biobag material, i did a water change and put in the activated carbon and zeolite crystals...guess i'm starting over...

I cant be of much help really never had one. I do remember my local LFS telling me they are really poor quality filters and prone to breakdowns and not really very good, but they say all kinds of things I suppose.

Hmmm - whereever I search on google they are slagging them off, but cant see anything helpful.

Have you taken it to pieces and check everything ?
