I havent a clue whats going on, my amonia level jumped to 4 last week, no dead fish, all looking quite happy, other water tests are all fine....been doing 20% water changes, and even resorted to ammo lock......

Tested again tonight......and its now 8

help.....i just dont know what to do now.........have hoovered the tank, and searched for dead fish, only feeding everyother day to try to help......

Need to know how many gallons or litres the tank is, plus full stock list of fish of how many and which type.
What filter do you use.
Add any meds in the last week.
Also can we take a look at your water stats please.
Alos how often do you maintain the tank.

the tank is 190 litres........

in it there is......... 2 bristlenose plecs, only babies,2 corydoras, 10 neons, 7 endlers, 6 platies 5 guppies, and 2 dwarf gouramis

the filter is an internal one that came with the tank.....which could possibly not be strong enough.

Only thing used in the last week is ammo lock, out of desperation.

the stats are
PH 7.2
amonia 8
Nitrites 0
Nitrates 10

we generally do a 20 percent change and hoover the tank weekly

I always run another filter with the juwels as they are not that powerful on some models, few water changes needed to get the ammonia down.
And don't bother with the ammo lock never used it but most fishkeepers seem to think it a complete waste of time.
