Can anyone please help.

I recently got what could possibly be a pair of Channa Behleri Last monday. Everything is ok but yesterday i decided to pout in another coconut cave. It was quite an old coconut i used.

I soaked it in boiling water for a few hours and made sure everything was cleaned off it and put it in the tank. At night time i noticed specs of white of which i thought was just some uneaten pellets.

When i woke and checked this morning the coconut cave had quite a few of these white specs on it, it looked to be developing mould. I removed it and did a 20% water change, tried to remove as much as the mould as i could.

The channas seem unaffected by this but im worried it could start to affect them.

Can anyone please advise on whats best to do next ?

Thank you in advance.

this might be a bit of a left-field question.....but you don't have any nerite snails do you? They lay small white eggs and like to do it on wood.

No i dont have any snails in to my knowledge. I havnt seen any either. I think its somthing to do with the coconut. im worried it could be hazardus to my channas.

Thanks. Dont worry it came out straight away. The water abit cloudly and there are the add remnants of the mould left even afetr the water change but the channas still seem ok. Fingers crossed.

Pretty sure the channa will b fine mate there kings of conquering dirty water. Not saying yours is dirty but the whole coconut thing.
