i have a 16gal tank and bought 2bala sharks stupidly - and in typical teenager style quite naiively.
I had no idea they would be so big - about 7" right now , and they dominate my tank. They have aggressively attacked several of my other fish , even killing 3 guppies. I am quite desperate - I really am attached to these fish but am not able to find any other potential owners. I am worried for my other fish who seem extremely stressed. Should I consider euthanasia in light of this?? What other options are there??

Not euthanasia, why kill a fish for no reason? Take them back to your LFS. If they wont take the balas maybe someone on here will?

No, don't kill them it's not there fault, ring the lfs to see if they will take them back, not much to be done, unless you can issolate the smaller fish in another tank from them, bala are pleasant and timid fish, it's because the tank isn't big enough for them, they are fast swimmers and thats why they need large tanks of 125gal.
Even if you have to ring alot of lfs and give them away for nothing.

Unless there is anyone from Dublin interested in two free bala sharks - im stuck for people to give them to. As for lfs i have rang all of the provinces lfs' with no luck

What a shame :-( Well you've had them this long, so an extra week or two (while you find a home) won't make much difference.

I suggest you try advertising anywhere you can, but also giving the fish's requirements so that they don't end up in a similar / worse situation.

Try eBay (advertise them free to good home - if you don't have an account, it doesn't take long to open one on it's free. You just have to pay a small charge for the listing, but it's nominal on free things and if you happen to get any money for them, that will cover the small fee). Or www.freecycle.org - page down for Ireland but as I don't know Ireland I don't know if any of those areas are close to you ?

Also try putting them in the buy/sell section here on TFF (if you haven't done so already) - you never know.

Try putting ads in lfs - both my lfs allow people to stick up little cards to advertise unwanted items. So worth trying all alternative options before resorting to killing the healthy fish :-(
