I got 4 tiger barb and 4 green tiger barb on saturday. I woke up this morning (monday) and 2 of my green tiger barbs are dead!!! I dont know whats wrong im getting my water tested later today. Could it be i feed them to much, to little? Are they sensitive to how much they eat? Please HElp Thanks

well they said just sit them in the plastic bag in the tank to get used to the temp then they would be fine

That could be one answer, that IMO is not nearly enough time.

If you took the time to think about what these fish go through b4 they get to your tank, you would realise how important acclimation process is.

I personally take atleast 45 to 60 minutes depending on sensitivity of the fish.

15 minutes is not enough.

Also, you said about temp, but did you add tank water to the bag.

Also, do you net fish out of bag or add contents to the bag.

well i didnt add any water to the bag because the petco lady told me not to... I used a net to change from the bag to the tank. So should i replace those and let the bag sit in the tank for like an hour with some of the tank water in it? And how long does it take for the tank to become ready for fish after the filter and the anti-chlorine stuff is added? I kinda want to start from scratch again. BTW I gave the other 6 tiger barbs to a friend who has a long time running tank of them. Thanks for all the help

ok cause the lady at petco told me it took 2 weeks to get ready for fish. ut i lied cause i was pretty sure it didnt take that long :sly:

meaning what
oh yea, i had 3 small tiger barbs in there for like 2 days. Is that enough? Or should I have like 3 Large tiger barbs or should i have left the small ones in there longer

Tiger barbs are sensitive fish IMO....they do not react well with Nitrite levels and will show bad water conditions by hanging there head down in the water..It is important to acclimate your fish correctly...You should place th bag in your tank...i poke a small hole in the bag and mix 5 ml of tank water to the bag water periodically over 40-50 mins. This helps them acclimate into your tank. What size tank do you have them in? By the sounds of it your tank isn't cycled and even though you can cycle it with the barbs it is usually hard on them and makes them prone to disease...What are your water readings...if you dont have a test kit i would invest in one. Hope i helped a little ;)

thanks that helps alot. Any seggestion on what fish is good to get a tank cycle going along with 2-3 tiger barbs? BTW i have one barb i saved thatbarly looks like its going to make it. Any ideas on how to get it back to good health? Right now im basicly restaring my tank.
