hiya

just started fish keeping and have set up a 7 gallon gold fish tank but don't know what kind of goldfish i should keep as i am a beginner

What do you recomend?

For goldfish you need 20 gallons for the first goldfish and ten gallons for additional goldfish. I would reccomend guppies or platies.

I second what has been said about your tank being too small for goldies. Here's the reason you shouldn't keep them in small tanks:

That's Bruce, one of the biggest goldfish ever. He's an Oranda. Yes, those tiny little cuties at the fish stores. Go for some lovely varieties of guppies that would do great in your tank.

Hi Allan,

I have just started keeping fish too, I found that Guppies are great and rewarding fish and quite hardy too. I started with 4 guppies and 3 cat fish. I am finding it very addictive and great fun. It has been up and running for 2 months now and I have so far (touch wood) had no casualties. Good luck and let me know how you get on and what fish you choose.
