Hello all, I’m Nick. I recently got back into fish keeping because of COVID and the want of another hobby. So excited to have an aquarium again. I had mentioned to my girlfriend that I missed having fish a few times and she surprised me with a 10 gallon as a gift. I got a blue neon dwarf gourami and 4 rummy nose tetras for it. Well, that didn’t last very long before I wanted more. So, I recently upgraded to a 75 gallon. I cycled it and moved the fish from the 10 into the 75. I have added more fish. Here is what I have now.

1 koi angelfish

1 avatar turkey green angelfish (so pretty and my favorite, definitely the “jewel” of the tank)

4 leopard Cory cats

1 clown pleco

14 rummy nose tetra

1 female neon blue dwarf gourami

1 female and 1 male honey gourami

I originally had 7 penguin tetras and 7 rummies, but the penguins were awful, they bullied each other to death until there was only one left and then it started picking on others, so it had to go :-( So, I just added to the rummy shoal. The rummies are super fun and easy going fish. The angels are like best friends. The gouramis all keep to themselves but do swim around and say hello sometimes. The Cory cats are crazy little busy bodies, but they don’t bother any others. The pleco just hides all day and eats algae at night. I run 2 filters, fluval 407 and 107. I got the 107 and attached a surface skimmer to it and use it as a utility filter because it’s easier to change out. I keep come crushed coral in there to help with PH stability as well. The 407 is just the “usual”. I didn’t do a planted tank, I have driftwood, faux plants, rocks, and other decor. It took me 4 different brand heaters before I found one that actually worked well. Started with a fluval m300 but finally ended up with an eheim thermocontrol-e 200. The fish are all settled and seem to be quite happy in the little home I made for them. Anyway, that was a long post to say hello and introduce myself, but thanks for taking a second to read it. I attached some pics, the water is a little cloudy because I just vac’d the gravel really well and changed the water. Should’ve taken the pics before that….oh well ?
