Novice to this new and highly addictive hobby.
25 litre tank at the moment already with plans for expansion :).

Enjoyed reading the advice posted here by experienced aquarists as a lurker prior to a poster.

Welcome. Show us a photo of your tank and what you are doing with it. Also share your experiences and how you are getting on. :hi:

Hello and thank you ?.

Right now I have 1 betta, 6 neon tetra, a bristlenose pleco and a couple of red cherry shrimp.

I am scared to over stock so I’ll leave it like this for the time being, or possibly get a second bigger tank and do something else. I would like to increase the neon tetra school but doubtful if I have the space in here.

I might get some more plants.

Yep especially floating plants for the Betta to hang out in.

I’ll have a look next time I am in the shop. The betta loves to hang out in the wisteria and for some reason likes to lie sucked up against the filter.

He is looking for a safe place to be, so make the surface of the tank safe for him. The neons love plants as well, fish like to feel secure.

Look at my profile photo with the cardinals. That tank also had a pair of Discus in it.

It looks great - how do you layer them like that? Also is it okay to have plants up against and touching the filter and/or the heater?

Its only a 25w heater and it hasn’t had to turn on yet as the water sits around 24C at room temperature (Australian summer).

The plants just grow and fill their space. I plant every available bit of substrate.
