hello all

just joined this forum.
recently bought a 46L fluval edge and at the moment i have 5 male guppies and 3 minnows.
i would like to get some cory's next.
i use to keep an aquarium many years ago, so i have decided to start up again.

Hi rita, welcome to the forum.

I don't like to jump in on someone's first post, but I need to say that you must be very careful choosing stock for an Edge. Only one of the three dwarf corydoras species is suitable; all the others get too big. All cories need to be kept in shoals of at least six, of the same species.

The minnows shouldn't really be in there either; they are very active and need at least a two foot long tank, preferably three. They also prefer much lower temperatures than tropical fish.

You say you have minnows, what kind?

If these are White Cloud Mountain Minnows, afraid 3 is not enough and that 46 litre tank is actually a bit small for these active guys, also WCMM are temperate fish, means they prefer coolers waters compared to your guppies.

A little more information on WCMM for your interest

You COULD have pygmy cories but pushing it imho, i'd actually prefer shrimps as they would fare better in that type of tank i think.
