Hello,
I am new here. This is my tank story.
I bought a tank for my son's 5th birthday in February. I made a bunch of horrible and tragic mistakes, mainly cycle issues. Since then I have read a lot and am, I hope, on the road to being a responsible fish keeper. As I said this is my son's tank so some of the decisions are his, i.e. the octopus decoration and the blue and green gravel.
The tank is doing well. We just got through and ammonia issue that caused me to stop relying on sporadic fish store strip tests and get a real test kit. I also learned the value of a good vacuum and water change. We are now swimming along fine and have stocked the tank.
Here's what we have.
10 gallon tank
2 platys, red and orange
1 swordtail
2 cory cats, one emerald and one green spotted
5 neon tetras
Let me know your thoughts. I am not that sensitive and could obviously use a good lashing for my terrible start but hope to have a hobby my son and I can enjoy and work on together for years to come. So please forgive my octopus and plastic plants.
