Just wanted to say hi. I'm new to the forum, but used it quite frequently in making decisions regarding my first fish-tank. The tank sits at the foot of my six-year-old daughter's bed and was used as incentive to finally get her to sleep in her own bed as opposed to ours : )
It is a 20 gallon starter tank from Top Fin. I've already replaced the filter with a 30 gallon capable Rena because I wanted to be sure to have enough media space for bio-filtration.
I'm currently cycling with fish following the great guidelines found in the beginner sections of this forum. Can't seem to get the Amonia to zero yet, but have been doing 50% water changes every day. I have it at a steady .25 right now. I bought this box of Ammo-Chips that I poured into a pouch, which I then placed in the tank, but this does not appear to be helping very much. Has anyone else tried using these, and if so, how did you use them?
Currently in the tank are three mickey mouse platys (platies?), two female and one male, and three dalmation mollies, two males and one female.
Man those mollies can eat : )
