:D

SO yea, here's a brief introduction. My father loves raising fish, although his way of doing it is rather bland...and boring. When we recently received a 40g tank, I suggested I start my own 'aquarium' 'cause I wanted to see what the hype was all about. The only problem is I know nothing about fishes and how to raise them...

And so I google'd my interest up, and it led me here. I was hoping there were guides for the absolute beginner, like how to start a (test) aquarium with a few fishes and see how it goes, all the while following a guide. I was hoping there were threads of that sort, helping the beginner with what kind of fish to buy, what kind of filter to buy, and so on. But there are no posts/threads of that kind, so I started reading all different sorts of posts, and now I am more confused than I started with!

So I was hoping I can ask for a beginner setup tank guide, and play around with that for awhile. Yes, yes, some say it's better to just start from scratch and keep trying until you get the facts right, (learn from your mistakes), but I'm just not that kind of person. I'm more comfortable with following some guide and learning my capabilities from that.

Plus, I'm strapped for cash, so I don't want to start out with some fish to see it die a few weeks later. =/

Hope I don't sound too desperate or anything, and I hope to pick up this hobby. Thanks for reading this lengthy introduction, and I truly hope I can find what I'm looking for.

Thanks,
Jeff.

There are a few things to know before adding fish into ur new tank and all the info u need is in the 'Beginners questions' section of this site....I'm a beginner myself and I ask all my questions in that section and everyone seems to be pretty helpful...Anyways welcome to the forum and goodluck with new tank setup.....
