Well my wife wanted me to buy her an aquarium, but i had little interest in keeping fish.So to keep her happy(and you know what that means :) )i took her along to the local fish hangout.Well we search along and decided on a 30x24 tank(80litres),with stand and a hood thingy and heater for tropical fish, pump and some nice ornaments, which set me back about $600.But much to my suprise i have now become addictive to fish, each time im out on the road(through my work)i HAVE to stop and check out different fish stores,am i alone in this??,anyway i didnt know about cycling a new tank as the lfs only wanted my money so he sold me some fish. Then after a few days they started to drop off like flys.I done some searching on the net and found the ".fishforever" website which is heaven sent and chockas with helpful info and found out why they were dying,so now i am in the process ofv cycling my fish and hopefully i will have some normality in my fish world soon.Nice forum here also...

Glad to hear you found the forum. I am new to the hobby myself. I find that I keep stopping too, mainly at just my local fish store to keep checking what they have. I was lucky I guess in that I didn't have my ornaments yet to set up my tank when I found the site so I learned about the fishless cycle.

My lfs had heard about the fishless cycle but didn't have anyclue as to the process.

I also found the idea of the bridged tanks, and have just completed bridging a 10 gallon and a 20 gallon. Progress on my setup is in the Do It Yourself Section. I just hope it works..
