Hello all. My name is Clare and I live in Northampton which is a large town in the UK, (about 60 miles north of London for our international friends.)

I am reasonably new to tropical fish, but always had a couple of coldwater fish when I lived at home with my parents. Last year my parents bought my daughter a Biorb as a moving in present to our new home. She wasn't particularly interested, so guess what? Mummy has to do it all. She chose the fish - 3 small guppies - and life was pretty sweet for them for a while.

However, being a novice, a couple of them started to get sick and one of them died rather quickly and the body disappeared! Next thing, another one went... I had to get some advice and quick. I had the water tested and it wasn't good. I hadn't done the water changes frequently enough and it had suffered...

Meanwhile, I went to a local fish shop and enquired what to do about my snail infestation. They suggested a clown loach. This is totally the wrong type of fish to have in an Orb as the "gravel" stuff that comes with it is not suitable for them, let alone the fact that the loach will outgrow the tank in a matter of weeks!!!

Anyway, with some new advice under my belt, things are looking good in the Orb, but it is far too small, especially for the loach, so my 2 remaining fish will be moving to their new home shortly - a Juwel Rio 125. Just cycling at the moment and will be getting some zebra danios at the weekend.

Haven't quite decided on the combination of fish we're having, but have read up alot on the advice on here and hopefully we'll make a good choice.

Cheers
Clare

Hi Clare and :hi: to the site.
Also a fellow Northamptonian!
Even though I am not a pure bred Northamptonian, (I am originally from Essex :hyper: ) I have lived here for 5 years and now call it home.

How come I've got 0 posts?
