Hey everyone! I am glad to have found this forum on the internet since I have a ton of questions and also some good information on tropical fish (freshwater). My name is Tom and I live in SE Wisconsin (near Milwaukee). I have two tanks currently; a 55 gallon and a 10 gallon tank. In my 55 gallon tank, I have 6 Bala Sharks, 3 Peacock eels, a pleco, 4 clown loaches, and 4 Platy's (for color). My plan for this tank is to obviously learn all that I can before my fish require a larger tank, which is in the works right now. My 10 gallon tank was bought as a hospital tank but now houses a breeding pair of Platy's (we just had fry last night!) and two apple snails; well three of them including a 2 week old baby snail which we have decided to raise rather than feel to the clown loaches in my larger tank.

Right now I am saving up hard to buy a 150 gallon bowfront from a local fish store and I can barely stand it! Fish keeping has become such a passion in my life that it is hard not to just take a paycheck to buy what I want right now! I am glad to be a part of this forum because there is soooooo much informtion out there on fish that I am not sure anyone can know everything. Not to mention the fact that this will help me get some unbiased information from people who are not trying to make a sale! I am glad to meet all of you and look forward to getting to know all of you more!

Welcome and welcome to the world of addictive munti tank symdrome and the dreams of a always bigger and better tank.

With your breeding pair I would put the parents back in the main tank as they will both eat the babies. good luck and welcome again :)

Clareuk,

Thanks for responding! I have all the fry that I could catch anyways in a small net type breeder with one of my plastic plants that I ripped apart. Later today I plan on going to the LFS to get some live plants for them to hide in. I have about 10 fry in there and they all seem to be active and moving around! It is pretty exciting for me to have this happen and I hope to move on to breeding some more interesting fish after I have researched more.

And yes, you are right, this hobby is about as addicting as tattoos and cigarettes, only healthier for me, and hopefully the fish!

Hi and welcome sounds like you have some nice tanks there
